This page is here to gently explain our process and help you begin exploring when you feel ready. Sands of Time works with independent memorial artists from across the country, each offering their own unique style and approach to memorial artwork.
Sands of Time began in 2011 as a one-person studio in Kansas City. What started with one meaningful request has grown into a trusted network of memorial artists creating handcrafted keepsakes for families across the country.
Even as we have grown, the heart of our work has stayed the same. Every memorial represents a life, a story, and a family’s love, and it deserves to be handled with compassion, intention, and deep respect.
Choosing a memorial can feel overwhelming at first. Our process is designed to be clear, respectful, and thoughtfully guided so you can move forward with confidence and peace of mind.

Send the ashes to the artist.
We provide simple mailing instructions. Most artists use roughly ¼ teaspoon of ashes per item. Please send only the amount requested.
Only a small amount is needed for most orders.
Your memorial is created and shipped home.
Orders are handcrafted by individual artists. Timelines vary by artist and design, with most memorials completed in approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
